The Chocolate Club
Look out for the release, around May, of a feature film called "The Chocolate Club". A scene was filmed on the boat and the main character hooked up. We were very grateful to the tuna who must have read the script.

2024 was our fifth season of being able to legally target Atlantic Bluefin Tuna in UK waters. We were able to do this in 2020 as one of only two tagging vessels for The Thunnus UK Bluefin Tuna Research Programme. In 2021, 2022 and 2023 we were again tagging Bluefin for Thunnus UK, but were also one of a small number of boats allowed to take fare paying anglers out to catch and tag Bluefin under a CHART Scheme. (Catch and Release Tagging).
In 2024 we were Licensed and Regulated to Catch and Release Bluefin Tuna in the UK under a new Recreational Catch and Release Fishery (CRRF). This new fishery extended the opportunity to legally target Bluefin Tuna to many more boats, both charter and private. Unless licensed under the new CRRF , it is illegal to target Bluefin Tuna in UK waters. True Blue Charters hopes to be involved with Catch and Release and tagging programmes for the foreseeable future. By the end of the 2025 season, our five years had resulted in 736 Bluefin Tuna successfully caught and released up to just over 500lb. We do have the occasional fish-less day, but most days produce at least one Bluefin. During the 2024 season, we caught on every day resulting in a seasons total of 369. Thats pretty impressive for anywhere in the world and with our long season, the Bluefin Tuna fishing here in the UK is World Class.

In 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 True Blue Charters were lucky enough to have been selected by Exeter University and CEFAS to work with the Thunnus UK research programme. This involved catching and tagging Atlantic Bluefin Tuna in and around Falmouth Bay.
Details of the programme can be seen by clicking on the link below. This picture was taken from a report on the BBC's Autumn Watch programme shown on the 6th Nov 20 Click on the links below to visit other websites, videos and articles relating to Bluefin Tuna.
