NEWS UPDATES
18th February 2025
Great News. We heard today that The UK Government informed ICCAT on the 15th February of their intentions to run a Recreational Catch and Release Fishery (CRRF) again this coming year. There will be an increase in recreational vessels from 100 to 180. At this point we do not know the application criteria or who will qualify for a license, but its good news so far.

Update 10th November 2024
Sadly the last day of our season, but what a season. 369 Bluefin Tuna boat side from 56 trips with at least one Bluefin to the boat every day. It is going to be hard to top this years tally, but oh what fun we are going to have trying. Roll on 2025. |

Update 25th August2024
We are now a week into the this years Bluefin Season and so far catches are exceeding all our previous years. Our worst day so far has been five hook-ups. We are seeing lots of life out from Falmouth, as are our colleagues from other ports along the cost. It does seem there are a huge number of Bluefin in our waters and it's very good to see.
We still have dates available this season for full a charter or individual places.

Update 22nd February 2024
We now know that DEFRA asked for 16 tonnes of the UK's Bluefin Tuna quota for 2024 to be allocated to a pilot Catch and Release Recreational Fishery. This is great news and should provide an opportunity for a good number of boats to be legally fishing for them this year. We probably wont know officially until around May that we have a fishery and its at that time we will also know the fine detail. Conditions, limitations, fishing methods and application criteria etc. What we know at this stage is that DEFRA are committed to a fishery and we have the quota assigned to us. Its very good news.

Update 11th February 2024
From what we are hearing, the planned CRRF for this year is looking very likely. This coming Thursday, the 15th Feb should provide us with a clue as to how big a Catch and Release Fishery might be. The 15th Feb is the date when the UK Government submits its Fishing Plan for the year ahead to ICCAT, The International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tuna. Hopefully there will be a sizeable proportion of the UK's 63 tonnes of quota put aside for a Recreational Fishery. If you would like to join us this year then have a look at our Bluefin Schedule here. 2024 Season/Schedule

Update 4th December 2023
Well that is it on the Bluefin for this year. 142 fish hooked and released and many happy anglers. We now look forward to 2024 and what we hope will be a "Catch and Release Recreational Fishery" CRRF. More news on this as we hear about it.
