I am sat here writing from my home in Poole when I should be afloat down in Cornwall. Sadly the weather, and lots of it, have kept the Bluefin Charter Fleet tied to their moorings. So far, since the season began on the 15th August, we have had to cancel more days than we have actually done. It's such a shame for our customers, many of whom booked their trips almost a year ago. When we have got out, we have had to travel quite far to find the tuna, which seem to be holding in the clearer water beyond Falmouth Bay. Recent trips have seen an improvement though with evidence of the Bluefin numbers increasing and moving slightly closer to Falmouth. It is still early days in the season and we are optimistic for things to further improve.
So far we have hooked 19 fish, brought 16 boat side and successfully tagged 13. We have also taken part in filming an entire hour long Bluefin TV programme on True Blue. This will be broadcast on BT Sport soon. I'll be sure to publish the date here once I know.
